There is Creativity and Wisdom in the Shadows
When creative juices are lost, it’s usually from being layered over with distractions of technology, responsibilities, and the stresses of modern life. But the most stifling is hearing inner voices of self-judgement and self-criticism. It can be much more dangerous inside your own mind! We all hold an amazing array of characters within. These inner voices can influence you to feel guilty, overwhelmed, invisible, not good enough, and more. They contribute to low motivation, experiencing recurring and difficult events that challenge you more and more, exhaustion, and shutting a good portion of yourself down.
How can you navigate these blockages? Well, it’s never easy, but it isn’t impossible. And it can’t be done alone. Support is imperative. I know in my life, when I was in those dark places, I not only had a community of family and friends, but elders, teachers, mentors, therapists, and coaches who guided and held me through. And you simply must go through, not continue to avoid.
There is hidden power in the dark side and to access it means meeting your shadow. The less attention you pay to the shadow, the more you push your authentic self away. Those hidden parts of you will continue to get your attention in sabotaging ways. But it doesn’t have to be all serious exploration. There is also playing and allowing yourself to explore your own, unique creative expression! Adults forget how to be playful. My coaching involves the following to reconnect you to your authentic inner well of creativity:
Intuitive, deep listening, along with using Voice Dialogue
Creative, artistic, playfulness to increase curiosity
Explorative experiences that increase openness to problem solving
Mirroring* so you can begin to hear messages from your deeper wisdom
*Clear reflections of the stories you express. By hearing them from an outside perspective, you gain a deeper and even archetypal meaning that raises your awareness and understanding about them.
